Check out this up & coming band...

Cory and I went to a concert tonight. It was Craig Morgan, a country singer. He was great, and we had a lot of fun. But, the real reason we went was to hear the opening act "Due West".
The lead singer of the group is Tim Gates. He was in our ward when we moved here almost 10 years ago. Cory served as his First Counselor in the Elders Quorum Presidency for a couple of years. He is a really great guy. He and his family moved to Nashville about 6 years ago so that he could pursue a career in Country Music.
Tim has also toured around a lot with the "Nashville Tribute" series ("Joseph: a Nashville Tribute to the Prophet" & "Trek: a Nashville Tribute to the Pioneers") with Dan Truman, the keyboardist from Diamond Rio. He sings some of the songs on the "Trek" CD.
We really enjoyed listening to him tonight. He has a really nice voice and we are excited for what his future holds. I added a link below where you can download their song "Sweet Gravity" for free. Check them out! Cory and I got to chat with Tim & his wife for a few seconds after the show. It was so great to see him! We are proud to say "we knew him when". Hey, I even sang a duet with him in Church once! Enjoy the tuneage!! :o)

Exciting News

I have some exciting news about my jewelry business. First off, I have put some of my jewelry in a retail shop/boutique in Salt Lake. The store is called "Fawn" and it is located at 2343 E. 3300 S. They have a website, but it is still under construction. The address is: www.shopfawn.com if you want to check it out. If you are in the SL area, go check out the shop! I am selling my jewelry there on a consignment basis, so I will get paid a percentage of everything that sells. Keep your fingers crossed for me that my stuff sells well there. If it goes well, I will consider placing my jewelry in other shops around the state.
The second bit of news is that I got a job today! I will be teaching jewelry making classes at Robert's Craft!! I am so excited! I will start classes in June, and teach Thursday evenings (maybe more often if needed). I get to choose what I want to teach, and how often I want to do classes. I think it will be a great opportunity for me and a chance to get paid doing what I love!
I am sure I will be very busy for a while, while I get things figured out, but I am excited for the opportunities that have come my way and look forward to new opportunities! :o)

Silly Boys!!!

I love to sit in my room and listen to my boys talk and giggle when they are in bed. They are supposed to be going to sleep, but usually they goof around for a while before they finally nod off. Ok, so sometimes it makes me mad, but many times they are truly funny.
The other night I sat in my room on the computer for a little while after putting them to bed. I could overhear them talking and being silly (as usuall). Andrew said to Zach, "Let me tell you a story. Once upon a time there was a little boy that was trying to go to sleep..." Hahaha!!
Then somehow they got started on singing. It wasn't just any singing either. Have you ever seen "Chicken Little"? In the beginning of the movie, everyone is making fun of Chicken Little for thinking the sky is falling, and he starts mumbling something like "It was an acorn ubbufwuh". That line is what my boys decided to sing to each other in bed. They were having a contest to see who could sing the best. First Zach would sing in a pulsing, almost rap-like style, then Andrew would counter back with his best Soprano opera-singing voice. At one point Zachary said "Andrew, you sing horrible!" It was quite entertaining and I kept wishing I had a tape recorder!! They are pretty cute and funny when they want to be. I have to remember that on the days when I want to wring their necks!!

Family Vacation

So, I decided it has been sufficently long since my last post that it was time for a new one. Nothing too exciting has been going on here, but we did take a trip to Phoenix last week to visit my parents. Cory has this week off work, so we thought it would be a good time to go visit. We had a fun trip (aside from the 7 hour drive each way). I was a total loser and never even took the camera out of the bag, so no pics this time! We left on Thursday evening, planning to drive the whole way, but when we reached Page, Cory decided he would rather not drive until 1 AM, so we got a hotel in Page, and left bright and early Friday morning. It was nice to break the trip up a little like that.
The kids spent the majority of the trip in the hot tub. They were pretty worn out by the end of the trip. Zachary was pretty cute about the hot tub. The first night we were there, we went to dinner with Amelia & Justin, and Zachary kept asking if we could go home yet. I finally said, "Why are you in such a hurry to get home?" And he said, "I want to beat my record of how many times I get in the pool in one day. I have already been in 2 times, and 3 times would be a new record!" Haha!! Well, they did beat the record, and the next day they went in the hot tub 3 times as well. One more time on Sunday, and they were totally worn out.
My mom and I pretty much shopped the whole time. Cory wasn't too happy with that. I had fun though and got some cool new beads and lots of new silver for my jewelry.
We drove home on Monday with a little stop at the Glen Canyon Dam visitors center. It was cool to look down over the dam and nice to stretch our legs. Everyone was happy to be home & sleep in their own beds!

100 random things you probably never wanted to know about me...

1. I have no middle name- Sara Jane is my whole first name
2. I watch Matlock reruns in the afternoon
3. I can touch my tongue to my nose
4. I am emetophobic (look it up) but I try not to let it run my life (sometimes I lose!)
5. I am not even 30 yet, and I have TONS of gray hair

7. I can sing pretty well (so people tell me)
8. My husband can not sing, but I still love him
