It's official...

I always knew I was the black sheep of my family (the only sister with a name not starting with "A", the only brunette in a sea of blondes, etc.), and this weekend it was proven once again! My little sisters, Amanda & Amelia, both graduated from ASU, making me the only one in my family NOT to have graduated college (including my parents, and 3 bros-in-law)! :o) I am so happy for them and all the hard work they put into getting their college degrees. Now that I think about it, I guess Cory is sort of the black sheep in his family too. He is the only one in his family that DID graduate college (including his parents, and 2 bros-in-law). So, at least he makes up where I lack, right? Anyhow, congrats to PanPanda & Meme!! I love you both & wish I could've been there to celebrate with you!

Girls' Night Out!!

So, last weekend I drove up to Salt Lake for a girls' night out with some of my high school friends. Of course, I forgot to get out the camera, again, so no pictures this time :o( On Saturday evening I went to dinner with Jen, Emily, Lisa, Lisa's cute baby Nora & her sister Sarah, Emily's SIL Andy, and Emily's friend from Heber, Raquel. We ate at the Cinegrill downtown. The food was decent, but mostly it was great to catch-up with old friends, and meet some new ones. After dinner, some of the gals had to leave, but Emily, Jen, Raquel & I headed over to the Tavernacle for the Deuling Piano Show. It was loud, and crazy & very fun! I mostly enjoyed watching all the drunk people make fools out of themselves. The piano playing was great, the language, not so great. But, we still had a great time. I spent the night at Emily's house in Heber, which is darling. I got to meet her adorable little boy, Jonah, who was not shy at all and we spent Sunday morning playing & laughing together. I headed home around 11am. It was a short trip, but lots of fun. Emily is having a baby girl in 3 weeks, so she planned this last "hurrah", of sorts, before the baby comes. Thanks, Em!

Check out this up & coming band...

Cory and I went to a concert tonight. It was Craig Morgan, a country singer. He was great, and we had a lot of fun. But, the real reason we went was to hear the opening act "Due West".
The lead singer of the group is Tim Gates. He was in our ward when we moved here almost 10 years ago. Cory served as his First Counselor in the Elders Quorum Presidency for a couple of years. He is a really great guy. He and his family moved to Nashville about 6 years ago so that he could pursue a career in Country Music.
Tim has also toured around a lot with the "Nashville Tribute" series ("Joseph: a Nashville Tribute to the Prophet" & "Trek: a Nashville Tribute to the Pioneers") with Dan Truman, the keyboardist from Diamond Rio. He sings some of the songs on the "Trek" CD.
We really enjoyed listening to him tonight. He has a really nice voice and we are excited for what his future holds. I added a link below where you can download their song "Sweet Gravity" for free. Check them out! Cory and I got to chat with Tim & his wife for a few seconds after the show. It was so great to see him! We are proud to say "we knew him when". Hey, I even sang a duet with him in Church once! Enjoy the tuneage!! :o)

Exciting News

I have some exciting news about my jewelry business. First off, I have put some of my jewelry in a retail shop/boutique in Salt Lake. The store is called "Fawn" and it is located at 2343 E. 3300 S. They have a website, but it is still under construction. The address is: www.shopfawn.com if you want to check it out. If you are in the SL area, go check out the shop! I am selling my jewelry there on a consignment basis, so I will get paid a percentage of everything that sells. Keep your fingers crossed for me that my stuff sells well there. If it goes well, I will consider placing my jewelry in other shops around the state.
The second bit of news is that I got a job today! I will be teaching jewelry making classes at Robert's Craft!! I am so excited! I will start classes in June, and teach Thursday evenings (maybe more often if needed). I get to choose what I want to teach, and how often I want to do classes. I think it will be a great opportunity for me and a chance to get paid doing what I love!
I am sure I will be very busy for a while, while I get things figured out, but I am excited for the opportunities that have come my way and look forward to new opportunities! :o)

Silly Boys!!!

I love to sit in my room and listen to my boys talk and giggle when they are in bed. They are supposed to be going to sleep, but usually they goof around for a while before they finally nod off. Ok, so sometimes it makes me mad, but many times they are truly funny.
The other night I sat in my room on the computer for a little while after putting them to bed. I could overhear them talking and being silly (as usuall). Andrew said to Zach, "Let me tell you a story. Once upon a time there was a little boy that was trying to go to sleep..." Hahaha!!
Then somehow they got started on singing. It wasn't just any singing either. Have you ever seen "Chicken Little"? In the beginning of the movie, everyone is making fun of Chicken Little for thinking the sky is falling, and he starts mumbling something like "It was an acorn ubbufwuh". That line is what my boys decided to sing to each other in bed. They were having a contest to see who could sing the best. First Zach would sing in a pulsing, almost rap-like style, then Andrew would counter back with his best Soprano opera-singing voice. At one point Zachary said "Andrew, you sing horrible!" It was quite entertaining and I kept wishing I had a tape recorder!! They are pretty cute and funny when they want to be. I have to remember that on the days when I want to wring their necks!!
